I finally finished the Chuck Palahniuk novel Rant. It was one of the more difficult books i've ever read, and i've been working on it for about a year. Its written like an oral history, and every other paragraph is from a different character. Most of the novel is simply about another odd palahniuk character. He tries to spread rabies to his friends and he seems to have odd superhuman abilities like an amazing sense of smell.
Like most palahniuk books, the middle suffers quite a bit, but then you get the this point where the title character dies, and then shit gets amazing. It quickly jumps from a normal story about a weird kid to crazy science fiction and a generation of kids trying to literally become gods. The end is confusing, but if you read between the lines, it ends with our current reality. Its really fucked up and hard to explain. A month ago I would not have recommended this book to anyone, but now I highly recommend it. I believe it just came out in paper back.
I now own every palahniuk book except for fight club, which I do not feel a need to read since I know that for the most part, the film did it a great amount of justice. I already finished his newest, which was Snuff, and was OK. I still need to trudge through Haunted, but since I've already read Guts several times, and Haunted is more or less just an excuse to publish Guts, there seems to be no reason to try any further. So what's left is Lullaby, then his non-fiction works of Stranger than Fiction and Fugitives and Refugees.
Not to mention, I just bought the newest novel from America's favorite deceitful author, James Frey. Seeing how people were angry at him for helping them overcome their addictions is ironic as hell, so I support him, plus he's actually a pretty good writer. Million Little Pieces was great, and his new one, which the cover states is his first "novel", is huge and looks to be the same crazy, fast paced writing style. and by fast paced, I don't mean the actual story. I mean how you READ it.

On another note, I'm finally moved into the other half of our house. We just started renting it, and right now i'm the only one over here. Eventually Thomas will probably start to use some of the kitchen shit, and the "princess" room (you'll understand once you see it) will inevitably become our new ping/beer pong room. I'm excited.

On an ending note, I believe we may end up organizing some sort of trip that would take place sometime in August. ideally for a few days, kinda road trippy. I was thinking seattle but nothing is actually planned yet. I've talked to a couple of people so far and I think that with a few willing drivers we can make this work.
